Sadly underrated and forgotten band worth checking out

Since music seems to be the predominant theme these days, I thought I'd add another thread. I like punk music a fair bit. Not a die-hard fan, but I loved The Clash and The Sex Pistols growing up. However, the one band that really doesn't get the recognition it deserves is The Ruts. They came out around the same time as The Clash & The Sex Pistols but their lead singer died of a heroin overdose so their output is limited. Check out the following songs if you get the chance:

Jah War; Babylon's Burning; In A Rut; SUS; Something That I Said; Staring At The Rude Boys.

Don't really care for too much punk.

However I did like some of the misfits songs and have been listening to them a little lately.

Here is an under appreciated metal band that not a great deal have heard of back in the day.

Savatage.

Not big into metal, but recently watched a great documentary. I think the name was Metal: A Headbanger's Odyssey. It offered some great insight into the genre and was directed by a Canadian (an added bonus.)

Love Savatage. The foundation for TSO.

Oh ya, Savatage was great. They will definitely be remembered more for TSO though.

Actually the 80s were full of underrated bands like that. Definitely my favorite time music-wise.

I loved them because of their guitarist. I think he is/was one of the most underrated guitarist from the metal scene back at that time. Too bad he passed on.

Although I mostly liked their earlier raw stuff...I also liked Streets a rock opera, It was kind of cheesy but I still like it.

Yeah, Criss Oliva you're talking about. Excellent guitarist. Killed by a drunk driver in '93 I think it was.
