ARLINGTON – The Cowboys trail the Cincinnati Bengals 7-0 after the first quarter after allowing Brandon Tate to score on a 75-yard punt return.
Tate’s gem was the latest bad special-teams’ moment for the Cowboys. So far this preseason, they’ve had a field goal blocked, fumbled twice, committed several penalties and allowed Tate to race down the sideline into the end zone.
The Bengals had a chance to score early in the quarter, but Barry Church forced a fumble inside the Dallas 5-yard line that Brandon Carr recovered for the Cowboys’ sixth takeaway of the preseason. Dallas had just 16 takeaways in 16 games last season.
