ARLINGTON –Dez Bryant defended his decision to head to the locker room before the end of the Cowboys’ stunning 37-36 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
The mercurial receiver left the field after Tony Romo threw an interception with 1:24 left that all but sealed Green Bay’s improbable comeback from a 23-point third-quarter deficit.
“I walked back to the locker room because I was emotional…it had nothing to do with my teammates,” Bryant said via Twitter.
Bryant left AT&T Stadium without talking to the media after snagging 11 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown.
“You cannot do that,” NBC analyst and former NFL coach Tony Dungy said of Bryant’s early exit. “I’ve got a problem with that, as a coach, as a teammate.”
But Romo defended Bryant.
“It’s an emotional game,” Romo said. It’s not fun for any of us to lose. It’s always tough emotionally.”
