SAN ANTONIO – The Dallas Cowboys on Friday began the process of trimming their bloated payroll by releasing four bottom-of-the-roster players.
The most notable was defensive end Everette Brown, who played in seven games during the second half of last season. The club also waived guard Ray Dominguez, defensive tackle Corvey Irvin and guard Jeff Olson.
The projected salary cap for 2014 is $133 million. The Cowboys’ biggest decision is what to do with aging defensive end DeMarcus Ware, who is set to count $16 million against the cap.
