SAN ANTONIO – The Cowboys are in “pretty serious talks” with kicker Dan Bailey on a long-term contract, owner Jerry Jones said at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., per the team’s web site.
Bailey is a restricted free agent this offseason, so the Cowboys would like to lock him up to a pack before he hits the open market.
Jones said he is “optimistic” a deal will get done.
Bailey was outstanding in 2013, hitting 28 of his 30 field-goal attempts, including 6 of 7 from 50 yards and beyond. Over the past two seasons, he’s 17 of 17 from 40-49 yards.
