SAN ANTONIO – With an eye toward cold-weather games in Chicago on Monday night and at Washington on Dec. 22, Dallas signed fullback Tyler Clutts on Tuesday after placing running back Lance Dunbar on injured reserve following knee surgery, according to ESPNDallas.com.

The 6-foot-2, 254-pound Clutts has had stints with Miami, Houston and Chicago. He’s the Cowboys’ first true fullback since Lawrence Vickers was cut July 12.

“You certainly want to be able to run the ball and be physical in bad weather games,” Dallas coach Jason Garrett said at a news conference in Irving. “Sometimes you’re not able to throw the ball as well as you’d like because of the conditions and the next best thing to do is run it.

“Being physical, being able to run downhill would certainly help you in those kinds of environments.”
