SAN ANTONIO – With Aaron Rodgers still not medically cleared to return from the broken collarbone that has sidelined him for more than a month, the Cowboys are forced to prepare both for the Super Bowl-winning quarterback and backup Matt Flynn.
Rodgers, who was injured in a loss to Chicago on Nov. 4, was limited in practice Wednesday.
“You look at the scheme that they play with Aaron Rodgers, and the scheme that they play with Matt Flynn and see if there’s a lot of differences,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said at a news conference in Irving. “You certainly have to prepare for both. Aaron’s obviously one of the best players in the league, and Matt has done a good job for them, so you try to watch as much tape of both of them, see if there’s some differences and evaluate as the week goes on to see if he’s going to be ready to play and then hone in a little bit more.”
Las Vegas hasn’t set a line for Sunday’s game because Rodgers’ status remains uncertain. The Cowboys, obviously, would have a much better chance of winning at home facing Flynn rather than one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks.
