The Cowboys released 2012 starting left guard Nate Livings and defensive end Travis Chappelear on Thursday after reaching injury settlements with both.
Livings started 16 games last season after signing a five-year, $18.7 million contract in March 2012, but he lost his job to second-year play Ronald Leary after undergoing surgery on his right knee in August for the second time in six months.
Livings’ 2013 salary of $1.7 million is guaranteed. In accordance to league rules, he could be re-signed by Dallas after Week 9.
