SAN ANTONIO – The Cowboys reportedly unloaded another aging, injury-prone veteran, designating wide receiver Miles Austin as a post-June 1 cut.

Citing a source, the Dallas Morning News reported it unloaded Austin on Tuesday, the same day it agreed to part ways with defensive end DeMarcus Ware.

The Cowboys will gain $5.5 million in cap space by releasing Austin, although it won’t be in their pockets until after June 1. The club likely will use the funds to sign its draft picks.

Dallas gave Austin a six-year, $54 million contract extension after he broke through in 2009 with 81 catches for 1,320 yards and 11 touchdowns.

But Austin has been plagued by injuries since and recorded only 24 catches for 244 yards and no TDs in 11 games in 2013.
