SAN ANTONIO – Having reached a stalemate in their contract talks with DeMarcus Ware, the Cowboys have reportedly decided to release the franchise’s all-time sacks leader.
Citing a source, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Clarence Hill Jr. first reported the move via Twitter. The move was also confirmed by the Cowboys’ web site via Twitter.
The Cowboys informed Ware last week they wanted to keep him but only if he agreed to a cut in pay. Dallas will save $7.4 million in cap space by cutting Ware, a seven-time Pro Bowler.
