The Cowboys re-shuffled their offensive line at practice Wednesday, lining up right tackle at right guard.
It’s uncertain whether he’ll be there when Dallas hosts the New York Giants in the season opener Sept. 8.
With Free at guard, Jermey Parnell was at right tackle while right guard Mackenzy Bernadeau slid over to left guard.
As usual, rookie Travis Frederick was at center while Tyron Smith protected Tony Romo’s blindside at left tackle.
The moves are in response to the injuries at left guard. Both starter Nate Livings and backup Ron Leary are recovering from knee surgery that could keep them out of the opener.
David Arkin started at left guard against the Cardinals last week, but he’s not viewed as a long-term solution.
