IRVING – The Cowboys on Tuesday signed receiver and Baylor alumnus Lanear Sampson to their practice squad.
Sampson signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted rookie free agent in April. He was released by the Colts on their final cuts coming out of the preseason.
The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Sampson is a Dallas native who graduated from North Mesquite High School. A four-year starter at Baylor, he totaled 165 catches for 1,905 yards and 11 touchdowns while playing alongside Terrance Williams, who the Cowboys drafted in the third round in April and is now the team’s No. 2 wideout.
Dallas now has the maximum eight players on their practice squad.
