SAN ANTONIO – A dispute over the language of the contract forced the Dallas Cowboys and free agent linebacker Will Herring to call off the deal before it was signed.
The parting was mutual, the team’s web site reported Friday. Herring announced the agreement with the Cowboys via Twitter on Thursday, saying that he felt “blessed to be playing in Big D this year and to be part of the Cowboys organization.”
A fifth-round pick from Auburn in 2007 by Seattle, Herring was a special-teams ace and captain for the Saints.
