Chase Clement

Former Alamo Heights and Rice standout Chase Clement was one of three quarterbacks the Dallas Cowboys auditioned Tuesday, the club’s website reported.

The Cowboys are seeking to fill a roster spot before departing Friday for training camp in Oxnard, Calif. The Cowboys also have quarterbacks Nick Stephens and Dalton Williams on their training camp roster, which is one shy of the maximum 90 players.

Clement was cut recently by Winnipeg of the CFL. The other quarterbacks that tried out for Dallas were Kyle Padron, a Southlake, Texas-ex who played at SMU and Eastern Washington, and Alex Tanney, who was cut by the Kansas City Chiefs in May.

Dallas also tried out five wide receivers, including Houston alum Dewayne Peace and TCU product Antoine Hicks.
