One day after Jerry Jones said he’d like to see punt returner/special teams ace Dwayne Harris get more playing time at wide receiver, coach Jason Garrett indicated he’s on the same page with the owner.
“Dwayne will play more and more,” Garrett said at his media briefing in Irving. “We like what Dwayne does both on offense and in the kicking game. He responded well to the opportunities he got in the game the other night and we’ll continue to look for chances to get him more.”
Harris was named the NFC’s special teams player of the week after recording three tackles in the 36-31 win over the New York Giants. Rookie receiver Terrance Williams, meanwhile, had a disappointing debut as the No. 3 wideout.
A busted route by the Baylor-ex led to an interception thrown by Tony Romo and he also had a drop. On the plus side, he caught two passes for 32 yards, both resulting in first downs.
Harris had two catches for 12 yards.
“Terrance did some good things and there were some areas where we got to get better,” Garrett said. “A lot of it is a function of those guys (Romo and Williams) just got to get together and him just playing snaps of football at this level. The more you play the better you’re going to get.”
