IRVING – Cowboys coach Jason Garrett indicated Tony Romo remains in pain despite receiving an epidural shot to treat his injured back.
“He certainly doesn’t seem overly comfortable, so he’s clearly working his way back through it,” Garrett said of Romo, who isn’t expected to play Sunday against Philadelphia after reportedly suffering a herniated disk in last week’s win over Washington.
Romo (back) and linebackers Sean Lee (neck) and Ernie Sims (groin) were the only three players to miss the Christmas afternoon practice.
With Romo sidelined, Kyle Orton worked with the first team. Newly signed Jon Kitna also got reps.
“I saw him briefly today, and he’s fighting through it,” Garrett said of Romo, who reportedly has a herniated disk. “He’s certainly in a situation where he’s trying to do everything he can to get himself back. He’s going through the rehab process and the treatment process like any injured player would. He’s a tough guy as we saw the other day. We’ll just see how he does.”
