SAN ANTONIO – Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett offered some perspective Tuesday when asked about all the criticism that has been heaped on quarterback Tony Romo over the years.

“It’s the nature of the National Football League, it’s the nature of the Dallas Cowboys, it’s the nature of playing quarterback,” Garrett said Tuesday at a news conference in Irving.

“It’s just what it is. He wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

Garrett knows all about the scrutiny that comes with playing quarterback for the Cowboys after backing up Hall of Famer Troy Aikman during the 1990s.

Aikman won three Super Bowls. The Cowboys’ first Hall of Fame QB, Roger Staubach, won two.

Romo has just one playoff win since becoming the starter during the 2006 season.

“It all comes with the dinner,” Garrett said. “He’s got a position that’s one of the great jobs on the planet. What comes with that is some of the scrutiny. He understands that.”
