One day after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he would like Dwayne Harris to get more time as the No. 3 wide receiver, the third-year pro was named the NFC special teams player of the week.
Harris recorded three special teams tackles in Sunday night’s 36-31 win over the New York Giants and also averaged 9.5 yards on two punt returns. He was also part of a unit that recovered a muffed punt in the third quarter that the Cowboys turned into a touchdown.
Harris also won the award last November for his work in a game against Philadelphia.
Rookie Terrance Williams struggled against the Giants, leading Jones to say Tuesday he’d like to see Harris get more snaps offensively.
“He can help us all over the entire football team,” Jones told KRLD-FM. “As you know he’s our returner and he also, though, can be a top third receiver. He will get more play time there. That should really make him a complete player with a lot of plays in the game. I am really pleased to see him step up.”
