IRVING – The disconnect between Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett continues.
On Monday, Garrett gave Doug Free and the reshuffled offensive line a lukewarm review for their performance in last week’s preseason win over Cincinnati.
“The combination took a little time to get going,” Garrett said. “Really, specifically, Doug Free playing (right guard) for the first time. But as the game wore on, he did better. The combinations did better.”
On Tuesday, speaking to KRLD-FM, Jones went way over the top in describing Free’s first game at any level at guard.
“First of all, Doug Free was nothing short but amazing (for someone who has) never played guard,” Jones said, per ESPNDallas.com. “You ask the question, are there things guard might require you to address some of the things that Doug has always tried to do in his game, and that might be the case. You need quicker hands inside and he was naturally up to the task. He was quick with his hands, that was a real plus.”
