SAN ANTONIO – Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Thursday that Jason Garrett isn’t coaching for his job and will return in 2014 no matter how the team closes this season.
Dallas is 5-5 with six games left, trailing Philadelphia by a half-game for first place in the NFC East.
“I’m disappointed, but (Garrett) does have us in a position to win the division,” Jones told reporters in Irving, according to Dallas’ NBC affiliate.
Garrett is 26-24 since replacing Wade Phillips midway through the 2010 season.
The Cowboys last made the playoffs in 2009. Dallas has finished 8-8 the last two seasons.
