SAN ANTONIO – Dallas Cowboys middle linebacker Sean Lee will play against the Chicago Bears on Monday night after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury, owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday.
Lee was injured in the 49-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 10. He was expected to miss three to four weeks.
Lee told reporters after the 31-24 win over the Oakland Raiders on Thanksgiving that he thought he had a “great shot” at returning in Chicago. Jones confirmed that Lee would return during an interview with KRLD-FM in Dallas.
Coach Jason Garrett acknowledged that it’s difficult to keep Lee on the sideline.
“I think Sean’s a great football player for a lot of different reasons, maybe first and foremost is desire and love for the game,” Garrett told reporters in Irving. “So whenever a guy like that gets hurt, he’s chomping at the bit to get back.
“…He’s been doing everything he can to get himself ready. He’s got more ointments, chambers, whatever the heck it takes, than anybody I’ve ever been around. I always kid him about putting Tiger Balm on there, just put a little Tiger Balm on there. That’s from back in the old days. But he’s doing that and more, whatever he needs to do to get himself back. And again I think it goes back to his love for the game, his passion for playing.”
