DALLAS – Jerry Jones said he watched most of the revved-up Eagles’ 33-27 upset of the defending NFC East champion Commanders on Monday night.

His reaction?

“They could be a real formidable team for us this year,” Jones said of the Eagles.
The frenetic offense unleashed in Chip Kelly’s debut as Philadelphia’s coach certainly made an impression on Jones.

“They do move,” Jones told KRLD-FM during his weekly radio show. “They do get up to the line.”

Jones called Kelly’s system a “good, crisp way to run a football team.” Philadelphia logged 53 plays in the first half and enjoyed a 26-point cushion in the third quarter.

“I don’t know that that’s a fad,” Jones said. “I think that stepped-up play is one that may have a place. You still go back to: Does it create more hits for the quarterback? I didn’t see that, really.”

The Cowboys used some no-huddle during their 36-31 win over the Giants.

“It’s certainly a trend to be in these no-huddle type offenses around the league,” Dallas coach Jason Garrett said Monday. “It’s something we’ve done a little bit in the past. It was an effective took for us last night in the ball game for a lot of different reasons.
You can control the tempo and maybe standardize them a little bit. And, also if you have some big guys up front, maybe you get a conditioning advantage as well.

“There are a lot of different reasons to do it, but the most important thing when you’re doing it, whether you’re playing fast or slow, is to play well and execute ball plays and move the football.”
