DALLAS – Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones cast serious doubt Tuesday on defensive tackle Jay Ratliff playing this year.
Ratliff is eligible to come off the physically unable to perform list this week, but Jones said the four-time Pro Bowler’ health remains a question mark.
“We’ve got a situation that’s not positive as far as him getting on the field this year,” Jones told KRLD-FM.
Ratliff has been sidelined since training camp with hamstring and groin issues.
Jones is expected to meet with Ratliff this week. The 32-year-old pro could be placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Jones all but ruled out running backs DeMarco Murray (sprained knee) and Lance Dunbar (hamstring) out for Sunday’s game at Philadelphia. Murray suffered his injury in the first half of last week’s 31-16 win over Washington, a game Dunbar also missed.
“He’s probably going to be out,” Jones said of Murray. “We’ll miss him certainly this coming week, but then we’ll see from there.”
Jones wouldn’t rule defensive end DeMarcus Ware (quadriceps) out for Philadelphia, but he indicated that the franchise’s all-time sack leader likely will miss the game and possibly others.
“We’ll be pretty conservative because we know how bad we’re going to need DeMarcus down the road,” Jones said.
Like Murray, Ware was injured in the first half against Washington and did not return.
