SAN ANTONIO – Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after recording his ninth career interception in the 17-3 win at Philadelphia last week.
Lee also had a game-high 11 tackles, including nine solo stops; and one tackle for loss in helping Dallas limit one of the NFL’s best offenses to a field goal and just 278 total yards.
Lee leads the Cowboys with two interceptions.
“He just has a nose for the football whether he’s defending the run or making plays when they’re trying to throw it,” Dallas coach Jason Garrett said at his media briefing Wednesday in Irving. “
Garrett said a lot of Lee’s success stems from the way he practices.
“His commitment is as good as anybody on our football team, maybe anybody I’ve been around,” Garrett said. “He fits into this (4-3 Tampa 2) defense really well, but he’d fit into a lot of defenses really well. He’s a damn good player.”
