SAN ANTONIO – Citing sources, ESPN.com reported Friday the Dallas Cowboys are considering hiring Scott Linehan to call plays.
Bill Callahan called plays for the Cowboys last season, but coach Jason Garrett said this week at the Senior Bowl that Callahan’s role could change next season.
The ESPN report referred to Linehan as a “compromise candidate,” suggesting Garrett and owner Jerry Jones aren’t in agreement on who should call plays.
The Detroit Lions fired Linehan as their offensive coordinator after last season. He spent five seasons calling plays for the Lions.
