IRVING – Citing a league source, ESPN.com is reporting that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will “miss the rest of the season” due to the back injury he suffered in Sunday’s 24-23 win over the Washington Commanders.

Romo limped throughout the fourth quarter and was grimacing noticeably in the locker room while getting dressed afterward. Asked about his back in a post-game news conference, Romo said, “Yeah, I tweaked it in the game. For whatever reason, just the twist or whatever that it was, but it definitely must made it not feel comfortable.”

Romo managed to finish the game, throwing a game-winning 10-yard touchdown pass to DeMarco Murray on fourth and goal with 1:08 left.

If Romo is indeed out, Kyle Orton will start under center for Dallas in Sunday night’s de facto NFC East championship game against Philadelphia.

Coach Jason Garrett meets with the media at 3:45 p.m.

Romo missed most of the offseason after undergoing surgery to remove a cyst from his back, but he said Sunday the injury he suffered against the Commanders is not related to that surgery.
