SAN ANTONIO – Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo ranks among the world’s highest-paid athletes, according to ESPN The Magazine/SportingIntelligence Global Salary Survey.
Romo’s earnings of $26.5 places him 14th on the list, which is headed by boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. ($73.5 million). Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (No. 4, $40 million), Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (No. 6, $31.5 million), New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (No. 7, $31 million), Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (No. 9, $30 million) and Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (No. 9, $30 million) rank ahead of Romo.
The Cowboys’ average yearly payroll of $1.875 million ranks 156th among 294 teams in 15 leagues in seven sports across the globe.
