RISING
Defensive line: Rod Marinelli’s anonymous assassins were magnificent, with Nick Hayden (six tackles, one tackle for loss, fumble recovery for a touchdown), George Selvie (strip sack) and recently signed Everette Brown (sack, forced fumble) leading the way,
Orlando Scandrick: With the secondary shorthanded because of injuries, the sixth-year cornerback stepped up big time with five tackles, four passes defensed and an interception.
Tony Romo: He was masterful piloting the season-saving 90-yard drive, the Cowboys’ longest of the season and most important.
FALLING
Offensive line: Dallas finished with single-digit rushing attempts (nine) for the first time in franchise history, a sign Bill Callahan can’t count on Doug Free and Co. to open holes.
Ernie Sims: He struggled so much Monte Kiffin was forced to take Bruce Carter out of the dog house.
Dez Bryant: He’s got the playbook down. Now it’s time to do the same with the rule book.
