DALLAS – Brian Waters’ 13th and perhaps final NFL season came to an end Saturday when the Cowboys placed the 36-year-old right guard on injured reserve.
The move opened a spot on the 53-man roster for practice squad cornerback Micah Pellerin.
Waters suffered a torn triceps in the 31-30 loss to Detroit last week. Dallas signed the six-time Pro Bowler on Sept. 4 to shore up an offensive line considered the team’s top weak spot coming out of training camp.
Mackenzy Bernadeau, a regular last season, will replace Waters in the starting lineup.
Pellerin, who has never appeared in a regular-season NFL game, will add depth to a secondary that will be without cornerback Morris Claiborne after he suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions.
