Safety Jalen Pitre in the 2nd?

I've been watching some tape on this guy. This is the so-called ball hawking safety everyone has been clamoring for, for several years now.

Thoughts on this guy?

Fits in well with our group of guys, I think.

I think that if we can make up for the talent level lost from losing Gregory, even if it's upgrading at another position on defense, then we do it.

I like that for smaller guy. That's what helps him hit.. that, he has a wide frame, big bones.. for a small guy.

That's my theory, too. A few years back, I was high on Matt Elam. But his career tanked and I think he was recently cut by an XFL team. He ended up in Baltimore though, which may have been part of his decline with the culture there and all.

I think they bring in these kinds of guys, if they're smart, though. This guy has great coverage skills. Not just good. So I think he can rise to the occassion of covering the kind of freakish athletes you mention. Because he is one.

I like guys who just want to win.

I visited Baylor when I was applying to colleges because I could drive from Austin.. Nice campus. Just the town was too small and I wouldn't have fit in very well, most likely. But they do have a great athletic program.

They actually have a WR, too.

Tyquan Thorton.. Could be a nice pick up.

Do you guys actually think a true ball hawk safety sits around until #56?
Also, do you see a second round safety starting ahead of Kearse, Hooker, or Wilson? I don’t see us drafting a safety anywhere in this year’s draft unless it’s a late developmental type to play special teams. We are also hoping to develop Mukuamu (sp).

Not just that, but most quarterbacks on the college level just can't fit the ball into tight spaces and often telegraph where they are throwing. Some defenders are able to adjust to facing better QBs and better WRs and some aren't. Figuring out which ones is the hard part.

I understand what the others are saying about safeties having to adjust to the speed of the NFL.

I think his tape shows he may already be there. If he's not at the speed yet, he's not far away.
