Safety Please

Why can we either draft or through FA get a real safety. This has been a problem for way too long in Dallas.

Agreed. Our safety play is abysmal and has cost us a game or two in itself. Jairus Byrd is the top FA Safety but his price tag will be too high imo. I think we draft one in the 3rd-4th round of this year's draft. Hopefully a Safety like Robert Lester, Phillip Thomas, Bacarri Rambo or Shawn Williams will be available. Good Safety play would help out Claiborne and Carr a ton too.

Cowboys liked Sensy enough to give him a 5 year contract extension a year ago (December 2011) -- 5 years, $22m despite the fact he had no other suitors in free agency.

When combined with the Ratiff extension, Cowboy should be set on defense for years!

Yeah we have had a real hard time drafting those 3 positions, got super lucky with Romo being an UDFA. At least we have improved our drafting of pass rushers with Ware and Spencer instead of the garbage of Pittman, Carver, and such.

We just have to upgrade the safety position, it looks horrible out there being picked on every single week....should be easy to see really, don't know why its ignored by some.

Sensabaugh is not a free safety, good free safety's try to make a play on the ball. Sensabaugh would be a good strong safety however we definitely need someone back their with range to make a play on the ball.

Really have no clue why this team has struggled to draft (ignore) certain positions over the years. And no...just because you draft in the 4th round doesn't mean you have addressed the position. Did Roy Williams' decline really scar them that much from drafting a safety in the early rounds now?

I have no idea why Roy dropped off so rapidly he was really solid for the longest time and then pooof.......he was gone. I don't think a player like Roy would be successful in todays game and the way the receivers are protected the way they are. I thought Anthony Henry was above serviceable while he was here.

sensabaugh would have recovered the ball if he wasn't jogging to the play. i'm telling you the day sensabaugh is gone will be one of the happiest days of my life.

We'll see what the offseason brings, but they have need of offensive line and pass-rushers in a big way, plus they locked up Sensy/Church and seem to like Matt Johnson (who we as fans have no real feel for since we have not seen much of him).

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the people saying Dallas needs a Safety, but looking at the needs of the roster I don't see them pulling the trigger unless a Safety just falls to them in the draft.
