In my opinion, Henry and Hamlin needs to be the safties once Pacman gets reinstated. Roy was beat a couple of times in coverage but was bailed out by bad throws and again got stiff armed by a small back(Slaton) let me refresh your memory last year in the playoffs Bradshaw did the same thing to an all-pro saftey. Roy should be ashamed. He is done, point blank.

And the stupidity goes on....

This is the NFL.

If you are expecting teams to never have success and never execute than your always going to be disapointed.

Roy will be judged on his season as a whole. Not a play he gives up here or there. That wouldn't be fair to anyone on this team because everyone is going to get beat from time to time.

I'm getting paranoid that a lot of these new posters are fans from other teams (Commanders fans) that have come here acting like Cowboy fans! Never before have I seen so many freaky posts from supposed Cowboy fans.

Now, I do know the real Cowboy fans that are the Chicken Littles of this board, but, these new ones (and they know who they are) that come here and say the most stupid things about the dumbest subjects just cannot be real Cowboy fans.

I think this board is getting raided...?!!! It has to be! Some people can't be this dumb, can they?

Roy ain't going anywhere this year. Now if he gets picked on again all season, even as they try to "hide" him, the Cowboys may finally be willing to part ways, and the suggested moves by the OP seems to be the most likely scenario as of right now.

Even so, they seem to have a ton of loyalty to Roy, despite acknowledging the adjustments they've made for him.

So for all of you so called football experts who do you think is going to the safety next year when Roy gets cut because you cannot justify his salary vs. the number of snaps he plays in a game. Just imagine how many snaps Roy would have played in the New England last year. They were in the 3 and 4 wide 70% of the game. Your nickle defense plays about 50 to 60% of defensive snaps which Roy is not on. Those who know football please reply

Fixed....(I bolded it for you)...

I read an interesting Q&A the other day courtesy of the Football Outsiders.

1. Roy Williams' coverage ability (or lack thereof) is always a hot topic in Dallas. What do your numbers indicate about Williams' performance in coverage over the last few years?

Our numbers, in this case, back up what the naked eye sees; Roy Williams has a target on his back, and it's there for a reason. Williams was targeted with 59 passes last year, the second-most of any safety in the league. Those passes "succeeded" (our measure for tracking whether the pass did enough to contribute towards earning a first down) 63% of the time; therefore, Williams had a 37% success rate, which was 72nd amongst all safeties. Remember that there's only 64 starting safeties in the league and, well, it wasn't a pretty year for Roy.

If Roy has a good year, then he's safe, and it's business as usual in 2009. If he doesn't, I think they might look at packaging him in a deal for a player of need. Maybe for a WR, maybe for something else. As far as the cap goes, I think they'd be far more willing to deal with it next year. He's signed through 2010, and 2 years worth of a cap hit could be reasonable to them.

One more for the football experts you guys tell me what team in NFL takes a 5-time pro bowler off the field for anything or any down in the prime of his career not a guy who might be on the downside but at a prime age in his career. Please name one. I don't have anything against Roy as a man because I personally don't know him so that makes no sense, in my opinion he just not a good football player anymore for some reason and needs to be replaced and I think the best option would be Newman,Pacman,Henry and Hamlin on the field,in my opinion.

Roy will not be cut. Halfway into this season you will be on his jock.

Stand by.

Roy is a good football player with unreal expectations placed on him by fans like you.

Unreal for a 5 time pro bowler. You gotta be kidding me. A 5-time pro bowl safety in the prime of his career should "never" come off the field for any reason other than an injury and for the money he makes. Please
