The New Orleans Saints are not making the playoffs in 2016 if their defense doesn’t put together a significant turnaround. With Sheldon Rankins and Vonn Bell drafted to boastna crew now led by Dennis Allen, you’d think the Saints would keep their veteran studs together.

The move really doesn’t make any sense to me. Sure, Lewis hasn’t quite been as dynamic as he was in 2013–his first year with the Saints. But when healthy, he’s still a very solid lockdown corner they need against Mike Evans, Julio Jones and Kelvin Benjamin in the NFC South.

Delvin Breaux is now the one “proven,” corner on the roster, even though he still have up way too many touchdowns a year ago.

Sure, they may clear cap space with his release, but the offseason is long gone. They don’t have any needs to free up cap space in order to pursue other big names. Lewis was undoubtedly their best corner.

kick the tires for sure, If you can get a deal worked out that pays him but does not hurt the boys and makes it possible to cut him without a big hit if needed, do it. But dont break the bank or sign him to a big deal at this point. I cant say I ever heard of the guy before, So I have no idea what we would be getting. Just limit our liability and if he signs great, if not, great.

At this stage there isnt much of a point adding a vet. No one we pick up now would be an upgrade or Scandrick, Claiborne or Carr. And if one of the young players cant cut it in the #4 role, there will be plenty of options on the street during the season. Most likely including Lewis

Their contracts are pretty much locked down as well.

For once, Dallas doesn't need a corner.
