I kind of don't agree with this. Parnell has really not played all that well IMO. Last year, especially towards the end of the year, I thought Free played much better then Parnell and everybody hated the way Free was playing. At the beginning of the year, I thought Free and Parnell were different flavors of the same thing. They played on about the same level IMO and this board almost came apart on how terrible Free was at that time. I don't really get the love for Parnell. I don't hate the guy but I don't understand the perception on him. Free is terrible but Parnell is a viable solution. I don't get it.

Bell might be a decent option but as you say, he has weight issues. Weems has been injured a lot. I honestly have no idea what we have there. Either way, I don't know that any of them can play LT if they had to.

He was/is loved because he isn't Doug Free. That's really it.

We went through this a few years back when people were clamoring for Phillips to beat out Bennett. People actually convinced themselves Phillips was better.

Well, I don't think you should speak for anyone but yourself. I'm completely comfortable with Smith/Free/Parnell/Bell.
I am speaking for myself. LOL Parnell is a basketball player converted to Left Tackle who wasn't drafted, Demetrius Bell has been TERRIBLE since signing his big contract and Doug Free has been just as bad.

I want it to work. It wouldn't shock me if it does. But all I can do is base my opinion on what i've seen from these guys during the regular season and it wasn't good and Tyron last season wasn't lights out either though he sort of turned it on midway of the season as he got more comfortable.

I'm just saying I've seen nothing to ease my worries about offensive line. But you feel otherwise which is fine.

Well, to be fair, the poster he was replying to was only saying we've got a bigger need at OG than at OT. That appears to be true at this point in the preseason. We'll see if it holds up.

I don't love our OT situation, but if Free really has returned to form, it could be a lot worse. The left side of our OL is looking pretty dang good [insert standard preseason caveat].

I think we can also both admit that's a HUGE "IF" in regards to Free though.

This thread is funny to me. On the one hand, you have this thread that is hesitant to look at a player who has been released by two different teams but in another thread, we are talking about how we need to find a way keep Alex Tanney on the roaster so that we don't expose him to the PS, based on what? A single preseason game and Youtube Vids. This is not to say that he is not a promising player but lets face it, he too has been release by three teams (?). The perceptions are interesting to watch. I marvel at how one player can be perceived as a must and the other as an unacceptable options when both players are similar in circumstance.

We also have a bring back Hamilton thread, lol.

How dare you exclude the great Hamilton and the ruing over when we cut him.

Don't worry, have a lollipop and remove all your emotional attachments to the team. Besides the lowered stress levels, this has the added benefit of allowing you to make catty comments and toy with the Cowboys fan's emotions...

Didn't you hear? Fee is being moved to guard. Parnell starts at tackle. And we brought in a bunch of crazed zombies to play special teams.

I don't really like them messing with Free right now considering how well he's done this preseason, but I understand the need to figure out the best lineup.

Either this is a contingency plan for if Leary doesn't make it back by the opener, or Dallas feels it might be the best plan considering it hasn't gotten the two vets it went after to agree to terms.

So the lineup would look like this — Smith, Bernadeau, Frederick, Free, Parnell — if Leary isn't back, or — Smith, Leary, Frederick, Free, Parnell — if he returns. Of course, it could mean nothing more than the team checking out all of its options before returning to the more normal lineup of Smith, Leary, Frederick, Bernadeau, Free.

deep breaths people, deep breaths....count to 10....there you go.....

feel better now? now, can we stop all of the "X team just cut Y player, can we bring him in?" If the guy is cut for ANYTHING other than salary reasons (for the team to save money), then we shouldn't do more than a cursory review of him (by the FO)...NOT bring them in unless warranted

Jets signed him.

Thank you Jets! Then again, we'll probably be having this same conversation in less than two weeks after the Jets cut him again.

Although, it was a nice change of pace from the tiring Moore and Waters topic.:)
