There have been times in this organization where Jerry missing out on who he wants turned out to be a good thing. This may be one of those times. Of course, those were mostly related to the draft. I'm not sure that Jerry has ever not gotten the coach he's gone after.

Jerry tried to hire Troy's UCLA HC Terry Donahue in 1998 but negotiations broke down and he hired Chan Gailey instead (huge mistake). He also hired Dan Reeves as a consultant in 2009 but Dan quit after two days reportedly over how many hours a week he was suppose to work.
