According to Peter King at SI, it's unlikely that the Saints will shop Bush around to trade down and acquire more picks.

General Manager Mickey Loomis, from his bunker at Saints' headquarters just after 10 p.m. EST, said he didn't think he would accept any offers for USC superstar running back Reggie Bush prior to Saturday's noon start of the 71st NFL draft.

"He [Bush] is the No. 1 player on our board," Loomis said during a break in staff meetings at the Saints' facility. "He's the No. 1 player on a lot of teams' boards. To be truthful, I don't expect us to be moving the pick. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ush/index.html

Good, hopefully the first round can move along now.

Yes, I was (and still am) a bit fearful that it was going to take even longer than usual to get through round 1 this year. So many teams look to be trying to move down, I'm expecting a lot of talk and very little action.

Mort made a good point.

Bush will expect to be paid as much, if not MORE,than the deal Mario Williams got in the #1 slot.

Benson, the Saints Umbrella dancing owner, is known for being a cheap owner.

I think if they get a good trade he would like to trade down, just don't know if they will find enough in a trade to make it worth it for them.

If the below is true, they have no intention of trading the pick...they are asking for the moon to move down, probably knowing nobody is going to give them this:

49ers | Saints asking price high for No. 2

Dave Hutchinson, of the Star-Ledger, reports the San Francisco 49ers are trying to trade up with the New Orleans Saints to the No. 2 spot in the NFL Draft, but the Saints asking price is high. The Saints are asking the 49ers for their No. 6 pick, plus the extra first-round pick they have at No. 22 and next season's first-round pick.

Jets | Saints asking price high for No. 2

Dave Hutchinson, of the Star-Ledger, reports the New York Jets are trying to trade up with the New Orleans Saints to the No. 2 spot in the NFL Draft, but the Saints asking price is high. The Saints are asking the Jets for one of two packages, according to an agent who represents one of the draft's top players: The Jets' pick at No. 4, plus their first-round selection at No. 29 and their first-round pick next season or the Jets' pick at No. 4, plus their first-round selection at No. 29, their second-round pick at No. 35 and their second-round pick next season.

Considering they wanted defense, don't need a QB, I think they have to take Bush or trade down, regardless of the deal. If they take Ferguson or Hawk over Bush, they'd be wasting money at #2.

I think the Jets will make them a very nice offer, but in the situation the Saints are in after last year, I'd jump at the chance to sign a marquee player like Bush who will increase revenue on all avenues in a big way.

Yes, his jersey will sell. But tickets will barley increase. New Orleans has never been a football area IMO.

He can expect all he wants he has no leverage at all now. He blew it. He needs cash with the legal rumblings now with his family. Whoever takes Bush has him over a barrel. He is definitely not negotiating from a position of strength.

So maybe they'll make Deuce McAllister available in a trade now, maybe for a 2nd or more likely a 3rd or 4th-rounder given he's recovering from a serious injury. McAllister to IND or NE?

Someone one ESPN said that Benson said, get the deal done for bush.

At least I am pretty sure that was a quote from Benson.

I agree, of coarse he is going to say they want to keep him. Good luck trying to get the best deal possible if you dont.

The Saints are just bluffing. They really want to trade down. They already have Deuce Mcalister, an established Pro Bowl runner and not a college kid who may or may not be a back who can carry the full load. They'll trade down and try to fill more of the teams' needs.

Yet with some of those outrageous trade demands, they'll need to lower their cost to actually get a GM to bite.
