This news just in.....the Cowboys aren't the only team that makes draft blunders.

They burned a 1st rounder, if I'm not mistaken. ouch

Yeah but to be fair to the Saints (which sickens me to say) Ingram was a Heisman trophy winner.

I thought he would be better for sure, although not some elite running back.

I would for sure take a shot with this guy. We could probably pick him up relatively cheap. I am not sure he really got a fair shot in NO, lots of backs over there.

fair shot- BS. He had chances and blew them. Just another over rated RB. Not like we have not had our fair share of them.

At the RB position, you can tell pretty early if a guy's got it, or not. If it were a case of injury, or needing time to develop pass protection skills, or whatnot, I'd consider it, but I think Ingram was just a good old-fashioned bust.

I guess you never know tell you give him a shot yourself. Depending on the money and everything you could sign him to a look and see kind of deal.

If he is so good. Why are the Saints not picking up his option?

I would sign him if he's affordable next season. Coming in I knew this guy had to be given primary carries to wear defenses out and get into a groove - similar to Emmitt. He's a poor fit for a committee type system the Saints have been using.

He was a beast in college. Turns out he was just another overrated RB. That position is being devalued like I have never seen before in the NFL. I wouldn't spend more than a 3rd or 4th on one in the future. Better yet, use the pick on BPA and sign keep signing vets. There are a ton of them each year.

better to pay slightly more for a guy that actually has done it well in the NFL then mess with one that has not.

I'd rather they pay Murray to stick around then get that guy. Murray has already proven a hell of a lot more in the NFL than Ingram has.

I think any scenario in which we bring in a back might be a case where the team decided not to pay Murray. I like Murray as well but if the team's thought process is not to sign him, then I think that's where a guy like Ingram comes into play. If they did resign Murray, then I think the conversation ends there.

That certainly is a red flag. I have followed Alabama football closely for many years and I really thought he was an elite RB and would prosper in the NFL. He was a top RB in Alabama. I hope somebody else will give him a shot at a reasonable price. I admit I am disappointed in his performance in the NFL. Again, Trent Richardson is another guy I thought would soar and has already been traded once. You cannot always tell about a player.

Outside of Eddie Lacey, just how many Alabama RBs have ever been worth much in the NFL?

Because that option pickup would be a $5 million guarantee for that fifth season, which is about 5x more than what he's proven to be worth up to this point. And realistically, with the way the RB market has played out the last couple of years, I don't foresee any backs not named Charles or McCoy making that kind of money on their next contracts
