In the NFL, it usually takes 2-4 regular season games for the offenses to catch up with the defenses. Anyway, that's pretty much been my experience.

I thought it was a good game.

You have it backwards. Offenses usually explode at the start of the season when theres no tape on a team and everyones pass happy.

Fans chant, offense win championships! and then November/December comes along.

And then defenses are critical as the weather gets tougher to throw in and there's better gameplans on teams.

Just see what happened to 16-0 Patriots and how tough those games were towards the end of the year... or how saints were scoring 45/48 at the start of last year...

Not a lot of scoring, but it was suspenseful until the last two minutes, so that made it worthwhile.

Good Lord, these two teams looked like garbage tonight. If these are suppossedly the 2 best teams in the NFC, then I think we can go all the way this year.

Thats assuming we dont like like crap Sunday night.

Yeah, about as suspenseful as Barry Williams boxing Danny Bonaduce.

If i'm a vikings fan i'm ****ing scared to death. outside of ap that offense was terrible.

Maybe someone should have gone to TC? Favre-bean thinks he can just show up and everything is like what it was back in the day....wake up call.

I know it's hard to tell for soemone who thinks there's not much difference between Julius Jones and Adrian Peterson, but Favre made a few throws (ie the one that hit Shiancoe vertical down the seam) that not a lot of QBs make. He just has absolutely nothing at WR right now that allows them to pick up yardage in big chunks. When you're brining in Javon Walker out of the retirement home, that's a pretty strong statement on what a big bag of notin' you got at the position..

Favre either looks done or he just needs more time to fully heal from his surgery...

The Vikes playcalling is horrendous.

3rd and 6 with the game on the line and they have their Cb's 10 yards off the ball, with no LB's helping on the slants.

Shiancoe displayed a huge mismatch againt the Saints LB's and they threw at him twice the entire second half.

A.P sparks your offense, then you bring in Albert Young and get no gains or lose yards.

And the entire first half was Run,run, pass. Run,Run pass.

Percy Harvin's speed was never used down field, or even across the middle. So either Favre doesn't trust him, or the gameplan was to use him as a decoy.

Farvra made two better than average throws the entire game. Woop dee doo. and he completed like 3 passes the second half.

i have decided it would be better if the Vikings win this game as they are very likely to lose quite alot more this year.

That was what I was thinking during the game.

Favre went back to his "**** it, I'm Brett Favre" mentality and threw a pick that no QB should ever throw.

Minny will have a bittersweet year. Plenty of ups, and plenty of downs.

Lord Favre will regress compared to last year.

I'd like for you to find an example of where I ever said anything like that.

Wasnt Harvin the ROY of the yr last yr? Didnt Barrien have another good year last yr? Are those guys awful? Shiancoe has been pretty damn good for them too. What team are you looking at?

The Favre slobberfest needs to stop. The guy was terrible last night. He's the main reason they lost the game.

Correction the Vikings looked terrible, Brees and Co look on fire and then settled for the running game in the 2nd half and went deep most of the time. I hate the saints with everything I have, but Brees is freaking fire.

What is funny the Saints where lighting teams up on offense during the preseason :laugh2:

Based on Preseason the Saints should have put up more than 14 points :D

And that right there is another reason why unbridled excitement or cliff jumping over preseason performance is so damn funny.

As far as the game, I fell asleep at halftime. From what I saw, the Saints offense still looked good, but not as good as last year. The Vikings offense misses Rice.

Wasn't overly impressed. Then again, seems like the first week every year can be a bit unimpressive as far as execution goes for a lot of teams. Maybe it's just me.

The 'Saints adjusted and put a DB on Shiancoe in the second half. He was no longer getting open.

The first game of the season typically is not a great indicator of how a team is going to do the rest of the season. Tampa ran the ball at will against Dallas in last year's season opener. Dallas ended up 4th in the league giving up 90.5 yards per game. That is just one example, but many teams tend to play differently as the season progresses.
