Does anyone think Jones will work out a contract for Romo that uses some of this season's cap room?

I hope so. Free up cash later for other players if he can bury a large portion of the money in this year's free cap space.

The deadline is pretty much irrelevant. If we don't use all of our cap room this year, we will push whatever's left into next season anyway.

Yes, just like rollover minutes. It's not automatic, but it's so easy to do, it might as well be.

Well Jerry's on his way to merry old England to watch the Giants-Dolphins game. Boy wouldn't I love to see the Dolphins beat the Giants. Won't happen but I sure can make a wish.

Anyway, Cowboys probably already have perimeters of contract they want to discuss with Romo's agents. I thought the deal would got done around Thanksgiving and that still may be possible. I do think Jerry wants to see how Romo performs in next 3 games. He's seen Romo's great performances in first 5 games, horrible play against the Bills but overcoming adversity to still put us in position to win, more then decent play against probable SB winner NE, and playing thru injury against the Vikes. Now he just wants to see at what level Romo plays against better teams NFC East teams in Eagles, Giants & Skins. I believe Romo is top of the QB tier behind Brady/Manning and his contract will slightly exceed Bulger's with some caveats as Romo gains experience/matures into the great QB we know he will be.

That may end up being the case but what Jerry says today and does tomorrow can be different. I'm not saying that as a knock on Jerry but in his world things change quickly.

I remember when Jerry would say, "It will never happen". Then walk to the podium and announce exactly what he just said would never happen. :laugh2:
