Who is JJ talking about when he says we paid players we shouldn't have?
I would assume Ratliff, but if you want more exact info, you may need to ask Jones.

I have a question for you, if you had infinite cap space, which two high priced free agents would you sign or which? Or which one high priced free agent would you sign, plus 2 lower level signees.
Jarius Byrd-FS and Greg Hardy-DE
Spencer doesn't matter because he's off the books. Everyone always points out what Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril signed for, but who's to say they would've signed here? Part of what made Seattle attractive was how close they were to a Super Bowl.
If that's the case, we shouldn't have extended Romo. That was the decision that effects everything. Resign him and we go all in, take are medicine and not extend him and we could literally clear almost all the bad contracts by the end of next year and we too could have as much cap space as the Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Spencer absolutely mattered sign they franchised him 2 years in a row. They took the full 10.6m cap hit that could've been a 4m hit if they had signed him to a 5 yr extension after 2011 or if they let him walk last year, his replacement would have cost the same 4m or less. That 6m difference could have been rolled over to this year.
Giving Doug Free a 4yr/32m deal also hurt, even though they got some of that back. They still had to pay for the over payments in 2011 and 2012.
