Salary Cap Space Updated

23.768 million in cap space after releasing Hurns.

Dallas could also clear:
5.8 million by releasing Crawford (also saves 8 million in 2020)
4.25 million by cutting Witten.

Moves like this would make it much easier for the front office to lock up Dak, Cooper, Zeke, Jaylon, and maybe even Byron Jones.
.
I don't see them doing it with Crawford. I really don't think at this point he is that overpaid for what he gives the team and when you look at salaries for comparable production.

The Witten thing could happen if the other guys step up...Witten had certainly become a lesser version of himself his last year and the time off likely isn't going to improve that. I think by the time all was said and done, we were getting as much at the end of the year from Jarwin and Schultz as we would have got from Witten.

I agree. But Jarwin and Schultz only come with a combined cap hit of 1.3 million or so. And they have a much higher upside than Witten at this point.

Please please please

Release Witteb
Extend Cooper
Extend Crawford are a more reasonable cost
Trade La'el and Taco
Extend Byron
Cut Maliek Collins if he doesn't stand out in camp
Cut Quinn if he's not significantly better than his backups
Extend Dak(this is for future CAP reasons not this year)

Bruh what is your love fest with ty craw. lol. You also forgot extend zeke. I wouldn't even extend byron unless it's less than 9 mil per

I don't like him at his current CAP hit, and want it lowered.

Extending Zeke doesn't help our CAP. I'd only extend him if it's less than 9 mil per

Doesn't matter if you'd only do $9M per, he's worth way more than that.

I'm on the fence with releasing Crawford he has been pretty good backup and rotation guy but if he is suspended next year or whatever might as well let one of the 2 FA and rookies try to make the team this year instead.

Resigning Cooper and Zeke won’t have a big short term cap effect. Cooper would actually count less against the cap his first year of the deal, and Zeke’s salary would only increase by about $4 million the first year.

Byron Jones is gone after this year, just accept it.

Byron isn't worth more than that. He's an athletic corner with no instincts. Once he loses a step it's all over. I would try to trade him or just move on from him after this season. Just extend zeke now and pull the bandaid off. Unless you want to trade him. Ty craw is gone after this year and most likely will never start again in this league.

Cap space is not what’s holding up any extensions
It’s not about money now, it’s about long term
None will be expensive now

Whatever you say man, we've done this enough times. You won't persuade me, I won't persuade you.

You said the same thing before his breakout season last year and you were wrong. He's not an athlete, he's an Ath-elite.

Btw someone without instinct doesn't have 14 PBUs that's just a ridiculous statement lmao

He is a world class athlete with zero football IQ and zero instincts. He ain't worth elite cb money. Elite players in the secondary create turnovers.

Zero football IQ and zero instincts is such a stupid statement.

You don't get 15 PDs without those skills.

But whatever you can put out there that isn't easily verifiable, right?

Becomes even more impressive when you see the lack of targets he garnered since teams were scared of him.

Your bias makes you say silly things.

Oh yeah that certainly is an issue. Is Swaim back also? And of course Rico. Witten makes more than all of them combined.

But at the end of the year and in the playoffs this wasnt the case. I also dont think highly of chido across from him. Hence the lack of targets

Of course you do. He just trails his man and gets his hand in there. He is average in zone coverage

The Cowboys should release Crawford but they're unlikely to do that with Witten, imho.

In any event, anything can and oftentimes, does happen. Lots of contracts to work out!

What with Dak, Cooper, Ezekiel and others seeking just rewards, it'll be tough sledding.
