Including Romo's 14m the Cowboys are now 19m+ under the cap........

that is without touching Dez, Witten or TCrawford(another 18m in space)......imagine being 37m under the cap on June 2nd

the signing of draft picks will use 1.8m in space......

ZMartin is signed for 2018 at 9.3m and an extension will only create even more space.......

They should roll over at least 10m to next year and will start the offseason 25m+ under the cap even with Romo's 8.9m cap hit

With a young roster, 10 more draft picks and only a handful of departing FAs next year, we could see a War Daddy or Brother or even a Cousin or Uncle

Going to need to add another 5 mil a year to keep martin next year. 9 mil is a steal.

The cap will need to be put in order.

If Prescott plays like last year (not a given), he will be looking at $30M a year by the time his contract is up. Zeke? I think $12-$15M. a year.

I understand the cap will rise. Likely $200M+. But that would still be a huge percentage of the overall cap.

Its going to be a huge challenge to keep them both when the time comes. Until then, lets hope we can win a Super Bowl or 2.

I can easily envision us keeping both.

Put me in the category where the highest paid players on your team upwards of 10mill should be QB, And a mixture 2 on each side of the Oline and dline... those are premium positions that always are tough to find and replace

I love dez and witten( and zeke as well down the road) but those positions should get churned out with draft picks replacing production on the cheap ala the patriots

They better not restructure next offseason, just swallow the big pill that is about to be Tyron Smiths contract. I'd seriously wouldn't restructure anyone, I hate having back loaded contracts.

I agree. We still need another defensive draft with a few offensive pieces, and we'll be contenders.

I think this team is starting to transition themselves to a power running game/ play action offense, with a defense they can rely on.

A few more blue chip pieces on the DL and we'll be humming

The thing is backload contracts is a good strategy when you have youth on your side, which we've seemingly become one of the youngest teams in the league

Smith is the 4ish highest paid LT, next year he'll be 1 by a few million. In a few years (with constant restructuring) he'll be to expensive to keep, god forbid he has another back or neck issue... if Dallas bits the bullet now he won't be higher then 4 again. Has everyone forgot why Ware left already? Yes he was having health issues, but his contract was the main issue because of constant restructuring.

except that it would create a crap ton of more space that can be rolled over

if DAL restructures Dez, Crawford and Witten they will have 38m in space......roll over 30m to 14m next year and that is 44m

If they don't then they roll over 10m and add that to 18m for a total of 28m

44m is a lot bigger than 28m and the cap is going up another 10m

Somehow, I'm not concerned about JJ being able to keep Dak and Zeke as lifetime Cowboys

We are 38m under this year but we only want to activate 19m

Being 38m under screams SIGN SOMEONE

I would be satisfied just rolling it over

no one else to sign except trading for richardson

Agree on rolling it over. You have to think that there are a few surprise cuts and the Cowboy bid on one of them, but they really should just load up for an elite player next year. Plus big FA moves are usually presold with a lot of behind the scenes whispers and negotiations, they can set up something big.

I would think they target a WR, but DE and CB are still obvious targets if you can get an elite player.
