Salary Cap?

I keep reading that the cowboys will have about 10 million under the cap to spend this year in free agency. But they also talk about dropping Ellis and Glover and even Larry Allen (maybe) in the same article. So do we have 10 million if we drop those guys or even before we drop them. Because I know all of them have a huge salary cap hit next year and roster bonus next year. If anyone knows for sure I would appreaciate it. Thanks.

Also, keep in mind the Cowboys are not talking about dropping Ellis and Glover. The posters here are doing all the talking.

Now Ellis may be gone, and by his own choice, but the boys are not gunna just up and cut either one of these two players. If they are not traded, they will be Cowboys. You dont just cut servicable linemen. Especially when half the leagues ready to pounce on them the secondd they are cut.

You don't cut good LB's either do you.....OH wait we did last year Dexter Coakley ring any bells.... If you look at their cap hit and their playing time they will not be back the PT doesn't justify the Salary Period any way you look at it. Now with their cap hit I'm not sure of any team willing to take on their contracts unless it's in a sign and trade where the player agrees to a new deal before the trade is complete. Either way don't expect either of them here next year unless they have new deals.....

I think Ellis has a better chance of staying than Glover.

No way Glover walks out on the field next year with a star on his helmet and a $7M cap charge. He'll either have to restructure or be gone.

Glover may redo deal..... Or we may go get Ngata, Watson or a guy like Fifita, Oshinowo for NT depth next year.

Ellis said he doesn't want back and Canty was taking his job so I see that move happening. He was on trading block last offseason.

Allen - that's going to be a tense situation. They might restructure and get cap # down or move on. Thats a big decision.

I know he has a huge cap hit and I really hope he restructure's his contract or retires becasue I really don't want to see him play for another team....He's a true Dallas Cowboy as much as Aikman and Irvin I would include Emmitt but we all know he went off to zona and I don't want to see LA do the same thing. He needs to stay a cowboy until he retires...IMO

Is there a reason that Ellis couldn't add 10-15 lbs in the off season. he is like 6'6" or something like that.

Ellis added weight to get where he is. Canty and Spears are the future. Ratliff can rotate. Ware is oue edge rusher now and we are bigger and younger upfront. The upside to our defense with FS and LB adds is there.

Who becomes the nickel pass rushing end opposite Ware?

That is the biggest thing you lose in losing Ellis.

Is it worth the salary?

That's why we need add other OLB to play opposite Ware unless Parcells thinks he already has someone on the team. I don't think we can take chance and just hope Kalen Thornton can do that job. We already taking chance in view view that Burnett can become good ILB in 2nd season. I'm already on record going OT, WR & FS on first day although I'd love to see us get Brooks or Carpenter at OLB. If only we didn't have to improve so many positions. And we don't even have a 4th round pick but can't complain too much cause we got Canty there.
