I guess with 2012 coming fast you had to expect this. :laugh2:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- A devastating earthquake strikes Japan. A massive tsunami kills thousands. Fears of a nuclear meltdown run rampant. Bloodshed and violence escalate in Libya.

And U.S. companies selling doomsday bunkers are seeing sales skyrocket anywhere from 20% to 1,000%.

Northwest Shelter Systems, which offers shelters ranging in price from $200,000 to $20 million, has seen sales surge 70% since the uprisings in the Middle East, with the Japanese earthquake only spurring further interest. In hard numbers, that's 12 shelters already booked when the company normally sells four shelters per year.

"Sales have gone through the roof, to the point where we are having trouble keeping up," said Northwest Shelter Systems owner Kevin Thompson.

I want one so I can get away from my inlaws. :laugh2:

I think the Saddam Hussein spider hole is better for you. :laugh2:

I'd buy one just for peace of mind. I would probably never need but I sure would sleep better knowing that I have my million dollar "JUST US" abode at 50 FT under my home.

If a Nuclear Holocaust happen, I would probably rather just let it happen. Holding up in a bunker would probably do one of two things.

  1. Prolong your life until you run out of food (and die) or run out of food have to come out to die a painful death from of radiation / starvation.
  2. Save you only to live the rest of your years in extreme post nuclear holocaust misery.

I'll pass. :)

You my friend have never played Fallout. You don't die in the bunker. You are forced out after killing the Overseer, so you have to flee for your life. What awaits you after leaving is a fantastic new beginning of sniping and trashcan diving for bullets. Not enough bullets I might add but ammo just the same.

Occasionally you come across aggressive robots w/ LASERS. You can offset this scenario by discovering a Red Rider BB gun and head shot sniping from 300 yards. :D

Ahh my trusty RRBBGUN, how I miss thee.

I would certainly have to purchase a couple hundred RRBB guns for my vault.

I would call my vault...

There is no place safe to hide from God. :laugh1:

I'm not gonna lie... that sounds pretty awesome. And $5,000 per person for a reservation is pretty reasonable.

My biggest concern would be how am I going to get my family to Nebraska from Virginia during this hypothetical apocalypse?

I love thinking about doomsday scenarios and how I would handle them. Zombie attacks, etc. Always be prepared! :p:

edit:
Cool, looks like they're planning on building two of these within 150 miles of my home. Hmmmm... might have to look into it!

When they said bunker I was thinking small not 200 person minimum. I'm not sure 200 people would be able to get there in time let alone the 950 person one that s 137,000 sq. feet. And what is to stop the wrong people from bunker crashing it,not being able to regulate who goes in, pretty much everyone knows where a bunker that big was being built.
