Can Pickens be tagged and traded next year?

I don't understand why are you looking to trade him? If he plays well, he isn't going anywhere. The Cowboys wouldn't make this trade if they thought he was just a rental. Pickens has the year to show his worth, if the Cowboys don't want to move forward after the season, they just take a comp pick back.
Well that depends and we've already discussed this so I don't know why we have to keep discussing it if they went in the negotiations and he thinks he should get the same type of money the top five wide receivers get you do tag him you make other teams bid on his services and when there's not a lot it might wait to player up when he sees that the demand is not as big as his ego thought they were you know his agents whispering in his ear et cetera.

You have to use that that's why the tag is there so you can't just let him walk people are worried he's going to become a cancer and and get mad if you tag him i'm sorry that's just the NFL when you're good enough maybe you can get a no trade clause like Prescott but this ain't that guy and I've said this before and I'll say it again you, as a player have to know your worth and you can't overvalue yourself or you will get tagged and don't play mind games with someone like Jerry Jones you tried to do that with Tomlin and the Pittsburgh franchise and they're not to be messed with either...

Now if he has a great year he plays very well he falls in the category of dj Moore Brandon AYuk and Devante Smith look at those contracts that is the realistic number for him he is not even T Higgins I know people want to put him in that category t Higgins can clearly be a clear number one on any team the fact that they were able to retain his services and he enforces his way out is surprising to me they paid him all that money...

But when you start looking at those contracts I mentioned above in that 27 to $30 million area if he'll sign that type of deal yeah the Cowboys are willing to keep him but if he starts asking for 35 and up he's getting tagged and Jerry will try to get as much as he can for him and if he's that good I don't know what tender you want to put on him I mean when you franchise tag a guide don't you put a tender I mean I haven't looked it up in a while but he put a second round tender on him or you could really hold him to the fire and put a 1st round tender on him and make him untouchable but if somebody really wants it it only takes 1 team if we get a 1st round pick for him that's a win.

Now somehow the scenario came about where the Cowboys did want to deal with them and let them walk then we would get a good comp pick for him versus a draft pick in a trade but I just don't see that scenario but I do see if he becomes that guy who thinks he's worth too much I mean look how long Brandon I held out and then had to settle for a number two contract which is a very good contract but those are the three contracts somewhere in the 27 to $30 million that's what he's worth that's what he's worth now but he has to prove that he can play well with others and have a very good contract year in order to get that long term deal at that cost that's just my opinion I just don't see him in the first tier of like he's a fringe top 10 wide receiver.... That's where that number comes from..IMHO

But what do I know:popcorn:.

I would learn how to read before responding! Where did you read I want to trade Pickens? Or did you read the word Can in the post?
I think it's coming from his desire to get paid if he asks for too much if he overvalues himself they might have to tag him and trade him if he feels he's somehow worth more money than DJ Moore or Devante Smith or recently Brandon I you got a deal that's where his number should be in but if he thinks he deserves that 35 to $40 million that's where this is coming from they feel he might become a headache and want that kind of money then you have to tag him and then you have to try to trade him..

It's all hypothetical we're all just sitting here thinking if he is a cancer in the locker room he's going to be a problem it'll be at contract negotiation time and then the Cowboys will be forced to go in a different direction but I guarantee this jerry ain't just going to let him walk for free they will tag him he can get mad all he wants and then we'll see where it leads.

Would be nice for once to have a player have a really good year and then take $28 million and say thank you and be the good soldier but that doesn't happen a lot lately...

Kind of the same scenario we're seeing with Micah Parsons right now he promised in the offseason he wouldn't demand more than 40 million my bet this contracts being held up by guaranteed money but I'm betting his agent is standing firm at 42 million and here we are it'll get done but this is what happens when a player decides to just dig in...
