Salute to Terry Glenn

I doubt he reads this, but I just wanted to say in the case that he does that my hat, heart, and respect go out to Terry Glenn.

I obviously knew who the player was (Ohio State, Parcells, "She"), but did not know much about him before he came here. But after having watched him these past few years I have nothing but admiration for his game, his character, and his work ethic. I can see why an old hard-*** like Parcells liked him.

He is a much better WR than I ever knew, and watching him was a pleasure. I've never seen a runner like him at that position, he looked more like a dancer going through his routes than a racehorse, just very nimble of foot and fast.

I bring this up because I heard on local radio that after the game he was just sitting on the bench, his head down, obviously taking in what had happened and one of his teammates came over to console him. And as he was walking off the field, you could see the emotions running through his face, he kneeled down, and ripped up (or at) some of that fake grass turf and walked off.

Given his knee, his rehab, and his future well-being; this could have been his last game. A terrible way to go out for a player who has earned his stripes in my mind as a true Dallas Cowboy. I'm sure a lot of people agree with that, just wanted to give some props to a guy who gave it his all, and did it with his play instead of his fat mouth (eh emm #84)

Sorry if this is a rehashed topic. I looked through a few pages, and for 3 days now I haven't been able to get the search to work. It just goes to this URL and the page comes up empty:

I was thinking about the same thing. Good post.

I think he has likely ended his career selling out for a Super Bowl with the Cowboys. Admirable and with a star on his helmet to boot.

Good Post. I agree, as much as I hate to admit, I agree. This might just have been Terry's last game. He still moved well but who knows how much his knees were bothering him. You could tell he could not put much wait on them. That is why he slipped on the catch and fell on the near INT. A great WR in my eyes.

I'm sorry, that is exactly one of the reasons I was posting, I think I just thought I'd get ripped as in the usual case on the board.

You are dead-on. He sold his body out to make a superbowl run for a team he believed in at the end of his career. Thats what makes me so angry about the loss. Guys like Crayton, Romo, Witten, James, Ware, etc...have a long career to make it there. Terry looked at the team, believed in them, and to not even win one playoff game is a disgrace by this coaching staff (Wade, Jason, Tony S, Brian S, whomever that special teams coach is, because they sucked big time)

Nice. I really hope he's back though. We need a veteran to help out with the youg receivers we may be getting (and already have)...not to mention he may be still able to burn people!

Aww-I sense the hostility of still being a Commanders fan.

I feel bad for dude. He spent months trying to get back on the field for the opportunity to be on a championship team only to get bounced their first post season game again. I'd hope he has it in him to go one more season and give it another shot.

Nope. I just thought he was a whiny little girl for complaining about Landry tackling him.

I would be very surprised if he returned. I would love to have him here but I think the damage he would probably extend to his knees isn't worth it.
I'm not even sure he would be of any help to the team.

Landry didn't tackle him. He slid into his knees.

I don't think that was the case, I think his compliant was that Landry did not have to go after his knee, which I agree with.

I agree, I was so happy Terry gave the effort to get back for this game with his rehab. I said to my dad after the game that even though Romo's pass to Glenn was picked at the end I was still happy he was throwing to Glenn. He was the one player I would have really liked to have seen catch the game winning TD pass.

Hope he's healthy enough to come back next year.

Landry was NOT going after his knees. He had started his slide before Glenn was even in position to be hit. It's called playing football.

I feel really bad for him.

He still feels guilty about the fumble in the Seattle playoff game the year before.

Then his knees get operated on twice. You could tell he didn't have the usual strength (he fell a lot, almost costing an interception, and barely able to stay upright for that nice first down).

He gave it his all for a shot to help in playoffs and deserves tremendous respect for it. He has also been a model citizen and excellent player each year in Dallas.

I think he could still play next year without doing the "regrow meniscus" surgery. It would just mean more bone on bone for another year.

But, do you keep him on roster without being able to rely on his staying healthy. I would if he's willing to accept spot duty and situational play, IF he's as healthy as he can get.

If he has another surgery, it's likely the new one that takes a year to try and re-stimulate cartilledge and he won't be back. If Hurd and/or Austin aren't 3rd WR's then we need to get one, and there aren't a ton of roster spots available with Stanback raring to get a chance, EVEN if we keep 6 wr's with is rare. Remember we need a punt returner as well.
