Calvin Watkins on twitter today said the cowboys had internal discussions about trading Hurd. Good or bad idea?Any thoughts?

I think its a good idea. I think he is a very reliable guy, but his roster spot could goto McCray and I don't think we'd lose anything at all on ST. Thats really what Hurds value is.

McCray or Holley cost 1/4 of what Hurd does. If we can net a decent pick (4th or 5th) i'd be cool with it.

By no means do I want to cut him though, but if we get a good offer, I'd take it.

I think as we close in on the end of preseason Hurd will attract more attention. Teams are finding out more about their wide receiver talent and depth. I think he is a very good player that another team thin at the position could use. St. Louis? Chicago? Carolina? Said this before, but i think before all is said and done Hurd will have put together a nice career. Probably somewhere else.

Wonder what you could get for him, a 5th maybe? Trade for o-lineman or tightend?

Also, you can’t trade Crayton anymore, the guy has once again proven his worth. Amazing how he stepped up to the plate and fought back his job, lol.

When you consider the Steelers only got a 5th for Santonio Holmes all be it he had issues a 6th would be great for Hurd. Personally I would rather swap Hurd for an experienced player on the OL rather than a pick next year.

It'd be awesome to get something for Sam. I hope he'd go someplace that would give him a real shot.

I agree. But I think it would have to be for a draft pick, and not another player. I think he's caught in a roster numbers crunch.

The team wants to keep several offensive linemen and safeties and to do so, they can only carry 5 receivers.

nothing new, Dallas isn't paying 1.8 miil for a special teams player, he's not making the team, if not traded, Hurd will be among the final cuts.

The only real value Hurd bringsd to another team is he's a proven ST ace. We might get a 7th from another contender. That would be fine with me. Nice player, but time to move on.

Probably a 32-33 old benched solid o-line vet, and a 5th or 6th.
:lmao: nobody is gonna give up a bag of chips for Hurd and you think a player and a pick?.....:lmao2:

I think the Raiders have a need at receiver.

Chaz Schilens is hurt once again and you know you can't count on Hayward-Bey.

Al Davis and Jerry have had a good relationship for years, so maybe that's a possible landing spot?

No way does a team offer anything more than a 7th. And maybe that is pushing it. I bet the Rams would trade us Bobby C. back.

That would be my first guess, my second guess would be Minnesota. Sidney Rice is hurt bad and could miss half the season with a hip injury. They are so desperate that they just took Jarvon Walker out of the moth balls. Maybe we could fleece them for a bargain deal of only three picks. :D

I just don't see Hurd as being that well known around the league. My first guess would be Miami as everyone in charge there would be familiar with him and understand what he would bring to the table. If this info has leaked out, it must mean that they have had inquiries about him. No way you let this leak out unless you are fielding calls about him from other teams.

I think Calvin needs to let info like this stay "internal". Now that it is out, it will only serve to deflate Hurd - unless a trade is worked out. Not good for morale.

.......I'd say Hurd has to renegotiate where ever he ends up. Lower base with a bunch of incentives---the way JJ should have done it in the 1st place.

Possible, but I'm thinking a contender could use him on ST and remove a solid player from ST duties.

If we can get something decent in return I would do it. Watching some of the other teams around the league I think Hurd could help some team in need.

??? Sam Hurd has never really made any more than the minimum he can make based on his years in the league.

You talk like Jerry Jones gave him some contract like he was a contributor on offense.

Hopefully its a player swap.

I really don't want a 6th or 7th for him.
