Sam Hurd released (untendered)... Four others tendered

He could always be resigned later if no teams show interest or if the Cowboys are willing to match offers.

Cowboys extended a first- and third-round pick restricted free agent tender to LT Doug Free.
The Cowboys clearly value Free highly, just not enough to use the franchise tag on him after an excellent first season as a starter. As a four-year player, Free is likely headed toward unrestricted free agency -- where owner Jerry Jones is likely planning to match all offers

Cowboys extended second-round restricted free agent tenders to DEs Stephen Bowen and Jason Hatcher.
Both players have accrued five seasons, putting them in position for unrestricted free agency under the next CBA. With Marcus Spears expected to depart, the Cowboys will work hard to lock up Bowen after he fared well in nine starts last year. Hatcher could be brought back as well.

Cowboys extended a right of first refusal tender to restricted free agent S Alan Ball.
Ball won't generate much interest as a restricted free agent after falling flat as a first-year starter last year. The Cowboys will bring him back as a reserve safety and special teamer.

Probably didn't want to pay him the amount that would make it worthwhile to tender him. He has no original draft pick tender, so Dallas would have to give him a first-round or second-round offer.

The Cowboys have done that in the past, but I think they were hoping he'd develop into a third receiver and not just be a special teams ace.

Why do I get the feeling that Igor's coming back?
Of course he's coming back. The guy has a reasonable salary and has been a decent to solid starter in his career in a position that we have a lot of questions at with guys being free agents.

I dont think he was solid. He was stomped on all season. Cut that loser and bring Spears back.

Spears/Rat/Bowen as your starters. No need to create needs in the draft when we already need so many starters

I also think Hurd might be back

Maybe our DL won't be much different than last seasons?

Looks like Ratliff, Brent, Igor, Lissimore, Bowen and I suppose Hatcher.

Though Lissemore, Hatcher, and Igor could be upgraded of course.

Sams done in dallas, we left him untendered.

Wherever will we find a mediocre fourth wide receiver to replace him and who's good on special teams? Does this mean Jesse Holley moves up a notch?

Hurd could be brought back but I suspect his agent will find at least one suitor. He's an excellent ST player and a decent number four WR.

Thats ok. I want Manny Johnson to get some more playing opportunites. :D At least make sure he sucks before giving up on the kid. Sam had his time here and plenty of opportunity to seperate himself.

I want the other WR's under him to get more lookieloo's.

Should have put the "we'll pay you to take him" tender on Ball.

Sam may have asked to have a chance to shop his services.

Did your avatar decide to quit smoking? :D

Hurd was still making to many fundamental mistakes as a receiver. Not positioning himself properly on routes. I'm sure his base pay was about to get way out of line for just being a special team player. Hopefully KO pulls his head out of his (expletive deleted) and gets back on track this year.
