from my part, and let me say first and foremost that I want Sam Hurd on the Dallas Cowboys roster, BUT, if the Dallas front office decide to move him, the trade of Rich Camarillo by the Dullphins to Minnesota opens up a natural fit for both franchises.

Currently the Dullphins receiver core is made up of: Brandon Marshall ( Pro Bowler ), Brian Hartline ( 3rd receiver at best, likely a 4th receiver type ), Davone Bess ( poor man's, less talented version of Sam Hurd ), Patrick Turner ( I liked him 4 years ago at USC, but he never developed into the top talent he was suposed to be ), Julius Pruitt ( who ? ) Marlon Moore ( who ? ) and Roberto Wallace ( who ? ).

Sam Hurd could walk into Davie's complex right now and become at the very least a key 3rd receiver, most probably their #2. The Dullphins are not going to give up much for a receiver since they know that teams like the Cowboys are going to cut some pretty good ones, but a 6th or 7th would represent a low price ( to them ) for somebody like Sam.

Nah. Parcells would bring in Keyshawn Johnson before opting for a younger, hungrier player.

I'm surprised Testaverde isn't at camp.

I love Sam as much as the next guy be he is not Bess. Bess in that offensive last year caught 78 balls. He is not less talented than Hurd.

Bess caught 76 passes because the Dullphins had no one else to throw the ball to. That's barely 5 catches per game ( 1 per quarter ) and with the running game being the primary target that defenses concentrated on, just about any average receiver would have done the same. Further evidence is what those 76 catches produced: 760 yards and 2 TDs.

Just to put that in perspective: Roy Williams who allegedly had a terrible season last year, had 600 yards and 7 TDs on less than half ( 38 ) that many catches, and Patrick Crayton was tied with Roy with 37 caches, 622 yards, 5 TD. Roy and Patrick on the Dullphins last year would have put up Pro Bowl numbers.

Right now Sam Hurd is better than anybody the Dullphins have except for Marshall.

Bess a poor Man's version of Hurd? That is Patently absurd. I would take Bess over Hurd in a heartbeat.

Davone Bess is one of the best young slot receivers in the league, he is not like Sam Hurd lol

As a Hawaii alumnae I am digging the Bess love! :D

The difference between Bess and Hurd is that Hurd does everything that Bess does, only better, AND he's a better special team player as well.

Yup.. although I don't think Parcells will be the one inquiring. Jeff, with significant input from Tony, will be making the decision ( wether to persuit this or not ). The Herald is pushing for them to go after Vincent Jackson, but that's a major move that I'm not sure they're ready to make and one where Parcells would have a big say in. Hurd makes alot of sense. Patrick does as well, but Sam's ability to play special teams, as well as being faster than Patrick, is more enticing to them.

The one sure thing is that they believe they can make some noise in their divsion with their easier schedule, but they're not sure about this current receiving group they have. Other than Marshall, they don't scare anybody, and with Ronny coming off a knee injury and Ricky a year older, it's not as if they have weapons all over the place.

one of the

NOT..

Cowboys by themselves have 3 who are better ( Bryant, Crayton, and Hurd ), and a 4th ( Ogletree ) if he's able to get his head out of his behind before camp breaks.

Bess is an adequate slot receiver.

How can somebody be a less talented version of Sam Hurd? Hurd is a hard worker, but talent is not something you think of when you think of Hurd. There's a reason why he has about 20 career regular season catches. :laugh2:

I'm not a smart man. Please explain why the Fins would trade away Camarillo if that would leave them so desperate that they would need to trade for Sam Hurd.

No one's going to trade anything for Hurd. He's not worth anything.

There are multiple reasons and they all have names:

Terrell Owens
Patrick Crayton
Terry Glenn
Roy Williams
Jason Witten
Martellus Bennett
Felix Jones
Marion Barber

and the latest star: Miles Austin.

That's the type of talent that Hurd has had to overcome in order to get playing time and prove himself. What people like you seem to forget is that Miles Austin wouldn't be where he's at today if it wasn't for Roy Williams getting injured. Many Cowboys fans were willing to send him out for a 2nd round pick ( when alot of us were screaming to give him a chance ) a couple of months prior to last season, so there but for the grace of the football gods goes him.

Sam Hurd doesn't have half the talent Miles Austin does, and I knew that long before Miles got a chance to start last year. Hurd has been on the field plenty of times, and he obviously doesn't just instantly get open or he'd get the ball thrown to him more.

I don't have anything against Hurd, but acting like he's better than a guy who caught 70+ balls last year is pretty crazy. Just being on the field doesn't instantly get you 70+ catches, see Roy E Williams.

Because they're desperate for DB help since one of their best special team players who happens to be their nickel back, Jason Allen, might be lost for the season, possibly career due to a knee injury.

Camarillo, just like the rest of their receivers not named Marshall, was a JAG.
