Topics about this guy may have been beaten to death already but I just really wanted to talk about this guy.

I have been impressed with his hands and his ability to get open. If you remember, Hurd had Mike McKenzie (a pretty good corner) beat on one play for a Touchdown but Bledsoe just over threw him a bit.

He really reminds me of a smaller version of Patrick Crayton (bodywise) but he his hands seem to be on the same level as Crayton.

Im trying to temper my excitment for the guy, last night was the first real look Ive had at him. I was most pleased though. He looked way ahead of where he should be as an undrafted FA.

I think he's got a future but then again I said the same thing about Tucker a few years ago.

After the draft and fa signings, my hope was in Miles Austin because of his size/speed combo, but the way Hurd has been playing from day one he has won me over. He reminds me so much of Antonio Bryant, tall and wiry at 195 pounds. I think with TOs influence he could be a 210 pounder next year.

I still hope Miles Austin makes it to the practice squad.

Yea, Hurd certainly doesn't look like your typical undrafted FA out there. He looks like he belongs and it will be difficult to keep him off the roster.
I am excited that the 'Boys are starting to pick up relatively unknown guys like this that can play.

Yes, I believe TO had a big influence with Hurd.

Dallas Media will take another shot at this:

"TO really DOES control this team! He made Parcells get Hurd! TO is trying to buffer 'camp TO', so he'll be able to oust Parcells!"

And of course, Parcells hasn't said anything about this, so his silence is deafening.

Where did Hurd come from ? Any college stats ?

Crayton, Austin, Hurd rector...Sheesh these young guys, hope they pan out.

Thank TO.
TO may have helped, but I think any praise he gets should be limited. I think it's cool that TO took him under his wing. But I also find it much easier, as the new kid on the block, to latch onto another new kid on the block (Hurd). And Hurd hasn't been tainted by all the league insider gossip like the vets on the squad. the good and the bad.

I think all the praise Hurd gets should be solely his own. Based on everything I've read, his approach to the game is what's gonna get him on the roster.

The main difference betweem Hurd and some other young Wrs we've had that looked good in the preseason only never to pan out is that Hurd has been doing it against 1st team defenses, not 3rd string scrubs. That means he can play!

BP complained about his 2 drops in last week's game. I think he really helped himself last night but catching what was thrown his way. He had one TD and could have had a 2nd on the long pass but Drew just overthrew him. I think his performance will quiet down a lot of the trade talk.

I was talking about him with someone last night.

Built like AB as a rookie.

AB meets Crayton.

Only thing I don't like about Hurd, and really noticed last night, is that he lets the ball come into his body instead of always catching it with his hands.
I am sure that will be pointed out to him and solved if he is what I think he is; very motivated to get better and perform.

Well...I believe he is the receiver that Parcells has really gotten on for not catching the ball correctly. Old habits are hard to break.

Off topic...I am just still somewhat amazed on Parcells' late round drafting ability and UDFA aquisitions. If you can forget about the OL picks, his late picks are on the team and contributing.

As another poster said he does have kind of a Antonio Bryant build but his hands remind me of Crayton's.

Hurd went to school at Northern Illinois, it's in a relatively small town that is a little over an hour directly west of Chicago. Sorry, don't know his game stats, etc. though.
